                        in-house journals

This school year, the University Research Center went the extra mile to empower the School Research   Coordinators with the task of publishing faculty and student researches in their respective journals.   Their outputs, which started during the summer break and finalized during the early weeks of the first    semester, were the offshot of their collaboration with Department Heads andsome faculty members    who served as editors especially for the maiden issues. The journals were finally launched on July 3,    2013,  at  the  St.  Pedro  Calungsod  Hall.  Graced  by  the  Administrative  Officers,  Deans,  Department    Heads and Directors, the ribbon cutting ceremony was led by no less than the University President,    Rev. Fr. Renillo H.  Sta. Ana, CICM, and the three Vice Presidents, Dr. John Octavios S. Palina, VPA, Dr.    Moises Alexander T. Asuncion, VPAA and Mrs. Venica S. Acosta, VP for Finance. The event is considered    a milestone in the history of research production and dissemination at SMU considering that there    had only been a few of these School Journals in circulation in the past. These Research Journals (of SOA,    SAS, SOB, CSIT, SOE, SOEA, SPAG) will serve as avenues for showcasing the research master pieces    of the faculty and students instead of just being kept as hard-bound copies and unfriendly reading   materials in bookshelves. Said academic journals do not just serve the purpose of dissemination but   more so as a way of inspiring the faculty and students to take the extra challenge of producing quality   research outputs.
