The University President, Rev. Fr. Renillo H. Sta. Ana, CICM attended the UK Partnership Forum sponsored by the British Council last March 5, 2011 at the Crown Plaza Galleria, Manila.

The forum is part of the 2011 Education UK Exhibition spearheaded by the British Council, which is UK’s principal agency for cultural relations. The British Council’s aim to win recognition abroad for the UK’s values, ideas and achievements and nurture lasting mutually beneficial relationships between the UK and other countries.

Through this forum opportunities of partnerships with UK Institutions were identified along the fields of the arts, science, governance, education and English language training. Participants were enlightened about ways by which partnerships with UK institutions are facilitated and implemented. The forum also provided for networking opportunities with representatives from universities based in the UK as well as from institutions in Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Currently, Saint Mary’s University is a grantee of a 3-year joint research project with Bayero University of Kano, Nigeria funded by the Development Partnerships in Higher Education (DelPHE), British Council, of the United Kingdom. In its more than 80 years of existence in the educational industry, SMU continues to sustain its efforts of expanding its operations through international linkages.
