Two SMU Employees proclaimed Highest Pointer in Bayombong’s  Dekat-Citrus Cook Fest

    Mr. Michael Noel A. Abiva, HTM Instructor and Mrs. Carmencita G. Acuña, HTM Laboratory Assistant worked as a team and declared the highest pointer during the Bayombong’s Municipal Tourism Council-sponsored Dekat-Citrus Cook Fest last July 9, 2014 at LGU Gym Bayombong.  The winning contestants will be recognized on August 7 during the 1st Tourism Conference.  Likewise, the winning delicacy will be presented on the same day for the townsmen to partake.  

    In the student category – Mr. Joel T. Fernandez assisted by Miss Jamie S. Movida and Miss Josa Vin P. Coloma assisted by Miss Shella C. de Guzman, all HRM seniors landed 3rd and 5th place respectively.  They will also be recognized on August 7.  Their coaches were Mr. Michael Noel A. Abiva and Mr. John Michael C. Ibarra, HTM Instructors.  The members of the Board of Judges were:               Dr. Norma Natino, Dr. Sherlina Ducusin, Ms. Julie Ann D. Banganan, TESDA Provincial Director,         Ms. Josephine Namuje, Proprietor of Namuje Farm, and Mrs. Adela Reside.

    The competition’s objective was to create a native delicacy with an infusion of Citrus (a common fruit in town) reflecting the rich culture of Bayombong.  The cookfest and the Tourism Conference are one of the highlights to commemorate and relive the history of Bayombong in celebrating the Town and Patronal Fiesta on August 7-10, 2014.  Further, the Municipal Tourism Council with the Local Government Unit of Bayombong have come up with these relevant events to actively and religiously promote local Tourism.
